Frequestnly Asked Questions

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic, Mink and/or silk eyelashes.  They are attached to
each of your individual natural lashes - not to the skin.It is a meticulous service which requires the skill and precision of your certified lash technician.  This service is to enhance the natural eyelash by adding length, curl, and thickness.

Why do I need lash infills?

The Eyelash Growth Cycle

Lashes go through three phases during the growth cycle. The Anagen phase (the active growth phase), the Catagen phase (the transitional phase), and lastly the Telogen phase (the resting phase). From beginning to end, this cycle can take anywhere from 4 to 11 months to complete.

The Anagen Phase

This is the active growth phase! During the Anagen phase, which typically lasts anywhere from 4-10 weeks, the lash hair is attached to the dermal papilla (blood supply) which feeds the lash to help it grow. During this phase, your lashes will grow at a rate of 0.12 - 1.14mm PER DAY!

Almost 40% of your upper eyelashes (& 15% of your lower lashes) will be in the Anagen phase simultaneously. This helps make sure you don’t lose all of your lashes at once when it comes time for them to fall out! The longer your lashes stay in this growth phase, the longer they will grow! 🤞

The Catagen Phase

During the Catagen Phase of the lash growth cycle, the eyelash stops growing. The hair follicle will shrink, detach from the dermal papilla, and the lash will stop growing! This phase (which typically lasts 2-3 weeks) is known as the transition phase as the lashes maintain their length while waiting for the next and final phase.

During this phase, if an eyelash falls out (or is pulled out), that follicle will remain empty while it completes this phase until it starts back over at the Anagen phase. This phase of the lash growth cycle is where lash serums and products would make sense. While lash length is determined in the Anagen phase, lash fullness can be enhanced with the help of outside elements and products. Keeping your lashes strong and healthy (with the help of serums) will minimize fallout and avoid gaps in your lash line.

The Telogen Phase

During the Telogen Phase, the lashes simply sit and rest while new hair begins to grow inside that same follicle. During this phase, your lashes will naturally fall out while your new lashes grow in.

The Telogen phase of “sitting and resting” typically lasts anywhere from 3 to 4 months - meaning your lashes will typically sit for this time period before falling out. About 50% of your lashes will be in this phase at one time (again, this assures you do not lose all of your lashes at one time).

As we all get older, not only does the lash cycle slow down a bit (& take longer for new lashes to grow during the Anagen phase) but lashes also don’t retain moisture as well. This is where lash serums, like Jane Iredale’s PureLash Lash Extender, will help the longevity and strength of your lashes! Applying a lash serum or conditioner on a daily basis will help strengthen your lashes, keep them hydrated, and minimize fall out for an overall fuller look!

Do Eyelash Extensions damage my natural lashes?

When extensions are applied properly, they will not harm your natural lashes; each lash extension is adhered to one single natural lash, the extension will grow out naturally as your hair matures.  The medical grade eyelash adhesive is formulated to create a solid bond, specifically for human lashes.  The adhesive is flexible and comfortable to wear.

What should I do before my eyelash extension appointment?

  • Come to your appointment having thoroughly washed your eyes so that they are free of makeup (eyeliner, eye shadow, and mascara) and any residual oils.
  • If you wear contacts, we recommend that you do not wear your contacts to your lash appointment.
  • Do not consume caffeine before your appointment as it may cause your eyes to flutter which makes it difficult for the technician to apply lash extensions.
  • Wear something comfortable as you will be laying on a bed for long periods of time.
  • Use the restroom before or when you arrive as using the restroom during your appointment will result in a shorter application time.
  • Set aside ½ - 2½ hours for your appointment.

How long will my eyelash extensions last if I follow the proper care instructions?

In some cases, eyelash extensions can last up to 4 weeks, however, it is common to get a touch up after 2-3 weeks.  Like all hair, there are 3 phases to the eyelash growth cycle.  There are lashes in each phase at all times, therefore, some will be lost within a couple of weeks, and others can last much
longer as part of the natural cycle.

How much do they cost and how long is the appointment?

The initial cost for eyelash extension application ranges from $50 - $280 depending on the type of appointment you schedule.  We understand everyone has different schedules and budgets which is why we’ve designed a service menu that would be able to accommodate everyone.  Your maintenance appointment known as a fill can take 30 minutes to 90 minutes.  The costs for fills ranges from $57 - $150 depending on the appointment type.  Please do not attempt
to remove your lashes yourself; please seek professional assistance from a licensed technician.  If you choose to have them removed, the removal process typically takes about 30 minutes at a cost of $35.  We will not be held liable for any damage that you may cause trying to remove your eyelash extensions on your own.

How do I care for my extensions?

DO NOT:

  • use any cosmetic products, cleaner, or lotion containing glycol, organic solvents, urea, or high concentrations of alcohol.
  • Curl, pull, twist, or tint extensions.
  • expose extensions to high heat.

DO:

  • Keep your lashes clean, free from make-up and debris at the end of day. Dirty lashes may cause eye irritation and infection.
  • Keep extensions moisturized and flexible by applying oil such as mineral oil and Vitamin E, A, or D oil.
  • Use lash shampoo for deep cleaning if needed but no more than once a week.
  • Brush extensions gently every day.

What is a Keratin lash lift?

A Keratin lash lift is a process in which the natural lashes are curled and lifted using a strengthening protein that is naturally found in skin, hair, and nails. Keratin’s job is to protect and strengthen the natural lash while the chemical solution of the lift helps make lashes appear longer and the eyes to appear more open.

What is a tint?

Tinting is a technique used to semi-permanently color eyebrow/eyelash hairs using a vibrant ammonia-free coloring solution. When tinting brows It can leave a stain of color on the skin which can provide an element of filling in thinner spaces within the brow.

What is Keratin brow lamination?

A Keratin brow lamination is a process in which the natural brow hairs are semi-permanently shaped and straightened using a chemical solution that also strengthens and protects the hair. Keratin is a protein that is naturally found in skin, hair, and nails.

How often should I get a brow lamination or lash lift?

It depends on the rate at which the hair grows as it is different from individual to individual. Typically, after six to eight weeks, you’ll have enough new growth to need another lash perm. If you decide you’re not into it anymore, you can just let them keep growing out, and they’ll eventually get back to their natural state.
